Our products are crafted from high end ethically sourced supple leather and have bound straps that can be held in hand or slung effortlessly across the body. 

The Kōuma bag is the foundational cornerstone of the MaryMoone design collection. 
 
Kōuma, which means sternum or breastplate, is worn over the torso. It symbolises both physical and symbolic protection, serving as a form of personal armour that aligns with the human body's shape. 

The Kōuma bag represents balance, symmetry, and harmony, reflecting the concept of hauora (well-being). Its origins date back to the early phase of Mãori culture in Aotearoa, where it began as a protective garment. Today, it also signifies the nurturing of growth and the preservation of values for future generations.
